While The Angry Birds Movie ruled the roost at the domestic box office this weekend, the international box office was dominated by X-Men: Apocalypse. The 20th Century Foxrelease earned $103.3 million from 20,596 screens in 75 markets. X-Men: Apocalypse is #1 in 71 of the markets and enjoyed the biggest Fox opening weekend ever in six markets, including Philippines ($4.9 million), India ($3.5 million), Indonesia ($3.1 million), Singapore ($3 million), Thailand ($2.7 million), and Colombia ($1.9 million). The UK led the way with $10.5 million and was followed by Mexico with $8.6 million, Brazil with $6.6 million, Russia with $6.5 million and France with $5.9 million.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in North American theaters this Thursday evening, in Korea on May 25, in China on June 3 and in Japan on August 11.
