Fox's Lethal Weapon Television Reboot Official Trailer

Combining action and drama with friendship and humor, LETHAL WEAPON reboots the hit movie franchise, as it follows classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, who are working a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles.

Grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective MARTIN RIGGS (Clayne Crawford, “Rectify”) moves to California to “start over” at the LAPD. He’s paired up with ROGER MURTAUGH (Emmy Award nominee Damon Wayans, Sr., “My Wife and Kids,” “In Living Color”), who’s just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh’s prudent, by-the-book technique. It’s clear from the moment they meet, this partnership could be lethal. But during their first case together, Riggs drags Murtaugh on a high-speed chase culminating inside the Long Beach Grand Prix and into a seaport shootout with drug dealers – and despite his protests, the older cop feels more alive than he has in years. Meanwhile, Riggs gets a glimpse of why Murtaugh is so determined to get home safely at the end of each day – he’s got a family and a newborn baby of his own. By the time their investigation ends, Riggs realizes he may have found something worth living for – a partner and friend like Murtaugh. And even Murtaugh figures this arrangement might just work out after all. If only Riggs doesn’t get them killed first…

Bryan Singer Wants Female Wolverine X-23 in X-Force Film

20th Century Fox is moving forward with its long-awaited X-Force film, and X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has shed some light on what direction the movie may take in regards to Wolverine.

In an interview with Erik Davis at Fandango, Singer confirmed that he's discussed with the studio what will happen with Wolverine after Hugh Jackman retires the claws for good, and even suggested featuring Logan's female clone X-23 in Fox's X-Force film. "I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female," he said.

While Singer was careful to note that he's currently only involved at the idea level, he did confirm that X-Force "is in the earliest script stage" at the hands of X-producer Simon Kinberg, adding, "so that's kind of where that stands, and we'll see how it evolves." Once he finishes with Apocalypse, Singer is focusing on his next film -- a new version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea -- for now.

Nintendo is Ready to Make Movies Again

Considering the current movie landscape and the fact that Nintendo has hit a rough patch, it would seem only natural that the company, with its wealth of colorful and iconic characters, would expand into the movie business. In fact, they're planning on doing just that to aid in future growth.

Although Nintendo has licensed its characters in the past, it's now thinking about making its own film content. Makoto Wakae, the company spokesman, said on Monday that there are no set details so far, but the projects might be released in theaters or on DVD.

Nintendo hopes to invest in film making with the proceeds received from selling its stake in the Seattle Mariners MLB team, though it probably won't become a full-fledged film studio. Reportedly, Nintendo is speaking with various film companies regarding a possible partnership and that the work they produce may involve 3D animation.

Kevin Smith In Talks with MGM to Adapt ‘The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai’ For TV

On his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, Kevin Smith briefly stopped talking about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to discuss all the opportunities he's received since directing an episode of CW's The Flash. "I've never f*cking done anything in my life that had more people saying, holy sh*t, good job," he said. "Like 22-year career, man. Not even in the beginning, when they liked me and sh*t." That episode has opened up some "weird doors," including a meeting with MGM about turning The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension into a television series. The 1984 Peter Weller-starring film, which defies any simple genre classification (it's a science fiction comedy drama romance adventure thriller), is one of Smith's favorites, and "one of the reasons why I make f*cked up movies and can't be like J.J. [Abrams] and sh*t."

MGM executives wanted to know if Smith had any ideas on how to turn Buckaroo into a TV show. Boy did he! "Basically you just do the entire movie for season one, then season two you finally do the sequel we've all dreamed about, Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League." (The credits mention the sequel, but it was never made.) Apparently, MGM liked what Smith pitched (I imagine hockey jerseys and Johnny Depp were involved) because next month, "we take it out and try to find a home for it."

Harley Quinn / Batgirl / Birds of Prey Movie in the Works at Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is already proving to be ahead of the curve by having next year's Wonder Woman serve as the first female-led superhero movie of the modern, post-Iron Man era, and now the studio has yet another female-centric superhero film in the works. Per THR, Warner Bros. is developing a film revolving around Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn character from the upcoming Suicide Squad, as well as a number of other female heroes and villains. So while Robbie's Harley Quinn sounds like she'll be the anchor for the feature, this may not exactly be a Harley Quinn movie per se.

Robbie is attached to star in and produce the picture, which is being kept under firm wraps as THR couldn't even find out who's penning the script beyond the revelation that the project has a female writer onboard. In addition to the villainous Harley Quinn, other characters are expected to get the spotlight, with Batgirl and Birds of Prey bandied about as possibilities.

Apparently Robbie was the impetus for getting this project off the ground, as she grew to love a number of DC characters during her comics research for the role of Harley Quinn. She found a writer and brought the project to Warner Bros., which immediately sparked to the idea of spinning off the Harley Quinn character into a female-centric DC Extended Universe film.
